Freak City Bamberg e.V. supports youth basketball in Bamberg, Germany, as a partner of the professional basketball club.
Our aim is to encourage young people to enjoy sport, introduce them to basketball, and help them stay involved. Community work is part of that responsibility.
Our daily work covers four areas: school sports, recreational sports, community projects, and competitive youth basketball. At the time of this account, we worked with approximately 45 preschools and elementary schools in Bamberg and the surrounding districts, reaching around 800 children each week.
Children and teenagers can join regular sports and basketball activities. Players in the youth leagues receive support as they work toward professional basketball. The club also takes part in community projects and runs a dance program.
Before the move
We previously used an older membership program that was difficult to operate. Exporting records and lists took considerable effort, and the system did not fit our needs well.
We sent newsletters through a separate tool. Staff prepared dues and fee records in spreadsheets. Camp and event registrations arrived by email or as scanned forms, and the information had to be entered into lists manually.
What we needed
We wanted cloud software that was easy to use and gave staff an overview of the relevant work. Newsletters, letters, and group emails needed to be available in the same tool.
We also wanted simpler dues administration and an online registration process for events and camps.
Working with campai
Moving to campai has definitely made our membership administration simpler and faster. It saves us working time. For example, when a membership ends, the system sends a confirmation email instead of staff preparing a separate letter.
Our new volunteers find the software straightforward to use. The communication tools give us several ways to stay in touch with members alongside newsletters.
Holiday camp and member-event registrations now run entirely through online forms. Participants no longer have to print and complete paper forms, and staff no longer retype the information into spreadsheets.
We value having a cloud system that continues to develop, with feedback from the customer community. It has given us a practical way to connect membership administration with the programs we organize.
